In our first two years, we have had students accepted to Baylor University, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Texas at El Paso and Texas State Technical College. It is LRA’s goal to give each student the support, advice, and resources he/she needs to prepare for and to successfully navigate the college search and application process. We endeavor to prepare them for the unpredictable nature of college admissions. Our program includes:
Junior/Senior Forum: class designed for students to get extra help in applying to colleges and universities and to learn how to write essays needed for applications.
Recommendation Letters – meaningful letters from teachers who really get to know our students and are honored to write for them
Brown Bag Lunch Series – college counseling workshops conducted throughout the year addressing topics relevant to each grade level (9th – 12th)
Visits from College Admissions Representatives — Reps from colleges are invited to meet with our students; often these are the same reps who will be reading our students’ applications
Special Programs/Events – College Info Night for parents, College Prep Genius course, interview workshop, mock interviews, College Night for all high school students provided by Private Schools of San Antonio College Fair, and more.
